While many people may raise an eyebrow to the idea of sound healing, sound therapy actually taps into ancient cultural practices that used chants and singing bowls to restore health and relieve pain. For those of you who read my last post, you already know.
Sound healing actually has the potency to not only promote relaxation, but relieve ailments, spanning from common aches and pains to the anxiety that accompanies chemotherapy.
It’s all about the vibration and frequency.
Some of you may have seen videos of me playing with my crystal sound bowls for the Heart Chakra and Solar Plexus Chakra, or maybe even attended a sound bath, yourself!
Either way, sound bowls and various sound instruments are a great asset for your spiritual practice, and I wanted to share three different types that you could implement into your healing journey.
Crystal Sound Bowls: This is one of the most common sound bowls you’ve probably seen. They’re usually white, sometimes multi-colored based on chakras. My two crystal sound bowls are from TopFund on Amazon. I’ve found the quality to be great, the sound beautiful, and the price feasible. Although, sound bowls are an investment. Make sure you pay attention to what chakra the sound bowl is correlated to, to make sure that you’re purchasing the one you desire.
*Note: The sound bowl linked is for the Heart Chakra.
Tibetan Sound Bowls: While crystal sound bowls are great for working with a specific intention or chakra, Tibetan sound bowls are helpful for those who want a more general healing experience. Tibetan sound bowls range in size and often sing at a different tune (given their brass body). This can be a great starter bowl for anyone who wants to dip their toes into sound healing.
*Note: The Tibetan sound bowl linked is not the one in the photo. It’s encouraged to browse various Tibetan bowls to see which one you’re most drawn to.
Chimes: Many of you may be familiar with wind chimes. While those also deliver peaceful sounds that can aid in your tranquility, the chimes I’m referring to for this post specifically are a bit different. Koshi Chimes, for this example, are ones that I’ve personally experienced in sound healing sessions. While the bowls target chakras or overall healing, Koshi Chimes coordinate to the elements (earth, wind, fire and air), and the frequencies resonate with the traits associated with each element that you wish to harness. For example: The Earth chime will offer stability, grounding, nurturing, security and abundance. There are plenty of other chimes you can play with. Again, this is just an example. Let your intuition lead the way.
*Note: The Koshi chime linked is for Earth.
There are many other instruments you can check out for sound healing. These are just a few of the most popular options.
As with everything when it comes to your spiritual practice, heed the call. If you find yourself drawn to something else, go for it. You know what’s best.
