Happy Capricorn New Moon!
The latest issue of my new digital Return to Self Zine is officially out, and it’s dedicated to the Goddess of Night, Lilith.
This 40-page issue dives into the depth of darkness and feminine rage through original art, poetry & expression, created and designed by yours truly.
Learn about the astrological significance of Lilith, her folklore, history and representation. This issue also features shadow messages for each sign, astrological facts, personal essays and more.
There are many stories surrounding Lilith, usually depicting her as the Mother of Demons and a terrifying, evil creature.
However, ancient texts also claim that she was the first woman, not Eve, and that God made Lilith from the same dust as Adam, but when she refused to be subservient to him or lay under him, conflict ensued and her dark feminine archetype was born.
Regardless, I think there are some very powerful lessons in Lilith’s story, especially when it comes to facing our shadow, power, sexuality and autonomy.
There is no doubt that if this was a different century, my bold and brazen approach to being a woman would’ve been labeled demonic, too. Perhaps I was even burned at the stake.
But in actuality, I’m just a woman who is exploring the depths of myself without apology and without adhering to the pressures of the patriarchy.
Maybe Lilith really was a demon. Maybe she was out here wreaking havoc and evil on every realm…
Or maybe, just maybe, she was a woman who refused to be boxed in, tied down and imprisoned by the structures and beliefs placed on her—and maybe that type of blatant resistance created a manipulated story that stained her image for centuries to come and made the scope of femininity one to be feared.
After all, good girls rarely make history.
