Karmic Connections: Reasons for Incarnating Together (Part 1)
Taking kindred spirits to another level.
Have you ever met someone and immediately felt like you knew them?
There’s some sort of resonance with them, a familiarity that can’t always be put into words, but is felt deeply in your being. It’s like you’re picking up right where you left off, and you actually might be.
Now that we’ve covered the various types of relationship karma from Judy Hall’s book Karmic Connections, let’s talk about the different reasons why particular souls choose to reincarnate together.
To preface this post, I want to be clear that Hall’s perspective is one where we all originate from one spiritual essence (which is also where we return), and from this spiritual essence, we break off into soul groups.
According to Hall, “At this stage, the individual souls are undifferentiated, floating in Neptunian oneness. The group may remain like this, learning on the spiritual planes for aeons of time, or it may pass down through the various planes of being until the souls are able to incarnate on to the earth, establishing Saturnian boundaries as it does so.”
She continues, “On the way, the group may break down into individual souls or into smaller groups of souls. Even what appears to be an individual soul in one incarnation may break down further in subsequent incarnations and can have several incarnations at once (rather like the Buddhist notion of skandas, ‘fragments’ that carry karma after death and move from life to life). It is unusual for the whole of a group to incarnate at any one time, but it does happen. More usually, some souls remain close to the earth to act as guides for those who have incarnated.”
This is why the stereotypical dialogue around soulmates can be such an eye roll.
While it’s very romantic to believe that there is one person out there for you, and that person is your “soulmate,” the truth about soulmates is that you have a bunch, because these are other souls who come from your original soul group and help your soul’s expansion.
Now, whether or not one of these souls is your life partner is completely up to you. I do believe that some of us have chosen our partners prior to incarnating, but when it comes to soulmates, they’re not restricted to just lovers. In fact, you may rob yourself of some truly beautiful relationships by solely confining these kindred spirits to a romantic partner.
So what are the reasons souls choose to incarnate together? According to Hall, there are bunch.
