I’m going to take a wild guess that if you’re here, you’re not completely opposed to the idea of karma, and even perhaps, reincarnation. At the very least, you’re open to learning more and making your own decision. I love that for you.
As I’ve continued my own spiritual journey and sought more and more knowledge, I’ve realized that I am especially drawn to dissecting karmic astrology and karmic connections.
This may not be too surprising for those who have followed my journey (after all, I’ve written about love and dating for over a decade).
I feel as though there’s a reason that relationships have been my greatest catalyst for spiritual growth and becoming acquainted with my own shadow (it might also be my volatile T-square in my birth chart, but we can discuss that another time).
For that reason, I’m going to be sharing some of the incredible insights I’ve learned about karmic connections from famous astrologer Judy Hall’s book Karmic Connections: The Birthchart, Karma and Relationships with subscribers of the newsletter.
But before we get into all of that, let’s talk about the basics.
First of all, what is karma? Karma is a concept found in various spiritual and religious traditions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. It refers to the law of cause and effect, which states that every action, thought, or intention carries consequences that shape one's future experiences. The term "karma" originates from the Sanskrit word meaning "action" or "deed."
People often associate “karma” with something “bad,” but the turth is karma is neither “good” or “bad,” it just is.
In the context of karma, positive actions lead to positive outcomes, while negative actions result in negative consequences. This concept implies that one's actions in past lives (reincarnation) or the present life will influence future experiences and circumstances. Karma is not necessarily a form of punishment or reward but a natural process of balance and growth, providing opportunities for learning and evolution.
What is a karmic connection and karmic relationship? A karmic connection or karmic relationship refers to a significant and intense bond between individuals that seems to transcend time and logic. These connections are believed to be the result of shared past-life experiences and unresolved issues that continue into the current lifetime. Karmic relationships can be both positive and challenging, as they offer valuable opportunities for growth, healing, and soul evolution.
Positive Karmic Connections: In positive karmic connections, individuals may feel an instant and deep connection with someone they have just met. This connection is often characterized by a strong sense of familiarity, trust, and understanding. Positive karmic connections may bring joy, love, and support into one's life, helping individuals to fulfill a shared purpose or life lesson.
Challenging Karmic Relationships: On the other hand, challenging karmic relationships can involve intense conflicts, emotional triggers, and recurring issues. These relationships tend to be transformative and often push individuals to confront unresolved issues from past lives. Challenging karmic relationships provide opportunities for self-awareness, healing, and breaking free from negative patterns.
For example, I was inexplicably drawn to someone for years who I convinced myself was my “twin flame.” Over time, though, my mind, body, and soul began shutting down and I realized that this person and I were not in alignment, but I kept trying to force it (we had a lot of South Node synastry). He was a very powerful karmic connection who was meant to draw out my shadow, so that I could heal deep unconscious wounds.
(And yeah, it was a fucking doozy that made me feel insane.)
You can use astrology and birth charts to interpret karmic relationships. Astrology can offer insights into karmic relationships by examining specific placements and aspects in a birth chart.
Here are some key elements in a birth chart that may provide information about karmic connections:
North Node and South Node: The North Node (also known as the True Node) and South Node (also known as the True Node) indicate the soul's evolutionary journey. The North Node represents the life lessons and growth areas to be embraced in the current life, while the South Node symbolizes past-life experiences and patterns that need to be released. Interactions between one person's North Node and another person's planets can indicate a karmic connection or shared life purpose. Interactions between one person’s South Node and another person’s planets can indicate a past-life experience that has returned in this life to pay a debt.
Saturn and Chiron: Saturn represents lessons, responsibilities, and karma. Chiron is associated with deep emotional wounds and the potential for healing and growth. Aspects between Saturn and Chiron in a synastry chart (the comparison of two birth charts) can reveal karmic lessons related to responsibility, commitment, and emotional healing within the relationship.
Pluto and Outer Planets: Pluto is linked to transformation, power dynamics, and the subconscious. Aspects between Pluto and the outer planets (Uranus, Neptune) in synastry can indicate intense and transformative karmic connections that may involve issues of control, power struggles or spiritual growth.
Vertex and Anti-Vertex: The Vertex and Anti-Vertex points in a birth chart represent significant connections and fated encounters. If the Vertex or Anti-Vertex of one person's chart aligns with personal planets or angles in another person's chart, it may indicate a karmic relationship or destined meeting.
Major Aspects: Pay attention to major aspects (conjunction, opposition, square, trine) between personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars) and significant points (Nodes, Vertex) in synastry. Strong aspects can highlight significant karmic dynamics and the potential for mutual growth and evolution.
This ongoing series will dive into karma and relationships, kindred spirits, individual expectations, the different types of karma, why we choose to reincarnate with the same souls and more.
I hope you’re as geeked about this as I am, because I just love learning about this and love sharing with you even more.
