Many of you have heard me talk about Reiki, and I’ve often been met with a lot of responses that were somewhere along the lines of, “Oh, cool. I’ve heard of it, but I don’t know what it is.”
To put it as simply as possible, Reiki (Ray-Kee) is an ancient Japanese healing technique for stress relief and relaxation that boosts the immune system and enhances the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
This technique was developed in Japan and is administered by the laying of hands. It’s based on the idea that all living things have special life force energy flowing through them (some of you may have heard of Qi). Although it was discovered in 1922, the techniques of transmitting healing energy through the hands has been practiced for thousands of years.
When your life energy is high, you’ll feel strong and confident, more relaxed and centered, and are less likely to get sick. When it is low, you’ll often feel tired, and are more easily affected by stress and less resistant to illness.
It’s always safe, non-invasive and effective, and may bring about conscious and/or subconscious physical, emotional, mental and spiritual healing. While it can be practiced in-person, its healing abilities can also be felt and sent virtually.
Some benefits include:
• Clearing blockages in the chakras
• Cultivating peace
• Reducing stress
• Reducing anxiety
• Relieving depression
• Reducing blood pressure
• Helping with pain management
• Integrating well with medical treatments
• Promoting restful sleep
• Aiding in the recovery of injuries
Reiki first came into my life roughly a decade ago. A friend of mine asked to do Reiki on me, and I could instantly feel a shift in my energy. I was intrigued, to say the least, and immediately began looking into it, but felt resistant in taking any classes (because of course I didn’t just want to learn about it, I wanted to facilitate it).
Throughout the years, it kept coming up for me, so I followed the pings. In 2018, I found a Reiki Master who gave me my Reiki I attunement, but I still didn’t feel ready to do anything with it. In 2020, I took Reiki I again and Reiki II, and it was a different story. Not only did I feel ready to practice, it was transformative in my own healing.
Clients I’ve worked on have all experienced something different. Some can feel the heat from my hands, hear vibrations, see colors, and get past life memories and visions, while others just reach a deep state of relaxation. Through Reiki, I’ve helped heal physical ailments as well as emotional trauma. It’s truly magical.
Although Reiki has been around for a long time, it’s just now barely being recognized as a credible healing modality. In fact, some hospitals are now including Reiki centers to help with cancer patients, as Reiki has become a valuable aid for those undergoing chemotherapy.
Last weekend, I accomplished a big goal of mine—I became a Usui/Holy Fire® III Reiki Master. This journey has been one of the most rewarding, emotional, exhausting and incredible experiences.
In addition to offering 1:1 Reiki treatments, I just launched monthly Reiki experiences via Zoom. These will be similar to guided meditations, but with deep, subconscious healing through the Holy Fire Reiki energy. And the first of these experiences is next week, July 7, at 6 pm PST!
This will be the first of four Holy Love experiences, which focuses on installing Divine love within you, so that you can experience the highest form of love that exists.
This is a great way to dip your toes into Reiki healing if you’re unfamiliar with the practice or apprehensive in any way.
However, for those who are interested in a 1:1 session, email info@returntoself.me to schedule your healing experience.
