In order to secure your spot for the trip, you just need to put down a 25% deposit (payment plans are available) and the first 8 people to sign up will get $150 off of their booking.
For reference, the early bird spots were all taken within 24 hours for my last retreat, so if you’re banking on that discount, get ready to jump on the site here tomorrow at noon.
I recently went over the itinerary for this retreat and answered some questions on IG Live, but here’s a quick breakdown for you:
The Cliff Notes:
The duration of this retreat is 7 days from November 7-November 13, 2024. The climate during this time is quite warm.
We will be visiting two cities (Cairo and Luxor). The retreat cost includes a sleeper train to Luxor and domestic flight back to Cairo.
We have 13 activities planned, which are broken down by day below.
This retreat includes 6 breakfasts, 1 lunch and 3 dinners. For other meals, travelers are encouraged to explore local restaurants and cuisines of their choice!
As with all TrovaTrip retreats, we will have a local guide with us for the duration of the retreat to help with transfers, logistics, language barriers, safety concerns, recommendations and emergencies. All TrovaTrip guides are trained in crisis management.
Your payment for the retreat includes: double occupancy in 4-star hotels (limited single rooms available), the local guide throughout trip, all city transfers and all planned activities.
Your payment for the retreat does not include: your flight to and from Cairo, additional food and alcohol (except as noted), visas and travel insurance, airport transfers (more on this below) or tips for guides.
The Itinerary Breakdown:
Day 1 (Nov. 7): Guests arrive! We will officially kick-off the retreat with a welcome dinner before winding down from a long day of travel.
Day 2 (Nov. 8): Pyramids of Giza tour, a camel ride at the Pyramids, the Sphinx visit and an Egyptian Museum tour.
Day 3 (Nov. 9): Saqqara Archeological Tour and Memphis Open-Air Museum visit before packing up and heading to the sleeper train to make the trek to Luxor. Dinner will be served on the sleeper train.
Day 4 (Nov. 10): Karnak Temple Tour and Luxor Temple Tour.
Day 5 (Nov. 11): Valley of the Kings tour, a visit to Hatshepsut’s Temple, a visit to the Colossi of Memnon where we’ll also enjoy lunch, a sunset sail on the Nile River and a powerful Reiki activation meditation led by yours truly for the 11/11 portal.
Day 6 (Nov. 12): We bid farewell to Luxor and take a domestic flight back to Cairo. Please note that your flight includes one 7kg (15 lb.) carry-on and one 23kg (50 lb.) checked baggage (they are very strict on weight limit). The flight duration is approximately 1 hour. Upon arrival back in Cairo, we will visit the Khan El Khalili Bazaar. As an essential Egyptian experience, Cairo's Khan al Khalili Bazaar is renowned for its array of colors and aromas, making it one of the world’s oldest marketplaces. You'll have ample time to immerse yourself in this fascinating environment, observing vendors as they prepare popular food and exploring the Al Attarin spice and El Sagha gold markets before joining the group for a farewell dinner that evening.
Day 7 (Nov. 13): All good things must come to an end, but only until our next adventure! Enjoy a final breakfast and then make your own way onward.
If you’d like more details on each activity, click here. I will also be offering a limited number of slots for 1:1 card readings at a discounted rate for travelers on the trip.
Some FAQs:
Is it safe? Safety is one of my highest priorities and this is a valid question, especially with the genocide occurring in Palestine right now. From what I was told, if for whatever reason, Egypt’s travel advisory raises to a Level 4 (Do Not Travel), the trip will either be fully refunded or rescheduled.
As for safety on the ground, just like any foreign country travel, you’ll need to be aware of your surroundings and use your discernment. Egypt is not a great place for solo female travelers, which is why I’m happy that this experience will offer a chance to visit the land for those of us who’ve always wanted to while having the safety of a group.
Why is an airport transfer no longer included? TrovaTrip received some complaints from travelers who didn’t like having to wait for other travelers to arrive in order to go on their assigned airport transfer, so it is no longer included in the trip cost. However, 2-4 weeks prior to the trip, you will be able to go into your portal and request a ride for a fee, which will come at whatever time your flight lands.
Are there clothing restrictions in Egypt? Although 90% of Egypt’s population are Muslim, there are no specific laws on how women should dress, however dressing modestly, especially when visiting sacred sites, is strongly encouraged to show respect. In general, it’s a good idea to wear loose-fitting clothing made of natural materials like cotton or linen to help keep you cool. It’s also recommended to cover your shoulders and cleavage and avoid having your back exposed.
If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to email me (info@returntoself.me) so I can get clarity for you.
Otherwise, I hope to see your name pop up on the list this Friday when Return to Self’s Ancient Egypt retreat goes live at 12 PM PST!
