Did you know that there’s a point in your chart that can tell you about fated encounters?
Yup, it’s called the Vertex, a lesser-known but powerful point in your natal chart that symbolizes fated meetings and significant life events.
Once upon a time, I connected with someone who became an incredibly important person in my life. Unbeknownst to me at the time, the relationship ended up being a catalyst for some of my deepest transformations and karmic breakthroughs. Readers would always tell me that this was a fated meeting.
Fast forward a few years, and I learn about the Vertex point in Astrology, so I decide to check if any of his placements align with my Vertex (for research purposes, of course).
And whaddaya know? His sun sign was the exact same sign and degree of my Vertex point. Fated (and intense), indeed.
With that said, understanding the Vertex can help you recognize the karmic connections and destined encounters that shape your journey, as well as the energy that your destined to embody in this lifetime.
So let’s dive in…
What is the Vertex in Astrology?
The Vertex, often referred to as the "Electric Axis," is not a planet but a calculated point in your chart, specifically where the ecliptic intersects with the prime vertical in the western hemisphere (two imaginary lines that represent the Sun’s orbit and the horizon).
It usually falls in the 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th house, and its influence is linked to encounters that feel fated or destined.
The Symbolism of the Vertex
The Vertex is associated with moments and relationships that seem predestined, those that bring significant shifts or transformations in your life. Unlike other points in your chart, the Vertex is often triggered by external forces or people entering your life, often leading to important events or turning points.
Fated Encounters: The Vertex is a point of karmic encounters, where relationships or events feel charged with significance. These can be brief but impactful connections or long-term relationships that change your life’s direction.
Destiny and Fate: The Vertex symbolizes where you’re most likely to encounter destiny. It’s where the Universe may place people or situations in your path that lead you toward your true purpose or growth.
The Vertex in Synastry: Fated Meetings and Karmic Connections
In synastry (relationship astrology), when one person’s planet or point, such as the Sun, Moon, or Ascendant, makes a significant aspect (especially a conjunction) to the other person’s Vertex, it often indicates a relationship that feels fated or karmic. These connections are often deeply transformative and may carry a sense of inevitability or destiny.
Conjunctions: When another person’s planet conjuncts your Vertex, it often indicates a powerful, fated connection. This could be a meeting that significantly alters your path or a relationship that brings about profound growth and change.
Oppositions: An opposition to the Vertex can also signify a karmic connection, often highlighting lessons or challenges that are key to your spiritual evolution.
Other Aspects: While conjunctions and oppositions are the most potent, trines and sextiles can also indicate harmonious, supportive relationships that feel destined.
Interpreting the Vertex in Each Sign
