What if the greatest power in the Universe was not something outside of you, but something within you?
I’ve been reading a collection of Neville Goddard’s work, a writer and mystic who you may have assumed I’ve idolized from the beginning, but as I’ve often shared—I don’t like to read anything that may influence me before I figure out how I actually feel.
As I’d slowly digest his words, I’d experience a mix of awe and frustration. Awe, because it confirmed so much for me, and frustration, because I knew no one would believe me if I told them that I came to the same conclusions on my own (but that’s just my ego, anyway).
Goddard, one of the most profound spiritual teachers of the 20th century, taught that imagination is the true nature of Christ—the divine power within each of us to shape reality.
Perhaps most controversial, Goddard emphasized that Christ is not an external savior but the awakened imagination within us all.
According to his teachings, the Bible is symbolic, not literal, and its deeper meaning reveals that Christ represents the divine ability to create through thought and belief.
"Imagination is the very gateway of reality."
Goddard emphasized beliefs that we’ve discussed here—everything you experience is first formed within your consciousness before manifesting in the external world.
Your assumptions, beliefs, and visualized desires create your reality—this is the essence of "Christ in you” (and also why becoming aware of your energy blocks is crucial).
One of Goddard’s core teachings is the practice of "living in the end."
Instead of hoping for a desire to come true, you must assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled, as if it already exists.
Feel the reality of your desire as if it is happening now. The world reflects your inner state, and believing it to be true is what brings it into form.
This aligns with the biblical phrase: "Whatsoever ye desire, believe that ye have received it, and ye shall have it." (Mark 11:24)
Perhaps the most revolutionary aspect of Goddard’s teachings is that your imagination is God in action. He suggests that when you imagine, believe, and feel deeply, you are engaging in the very act of creation that the Divine itself uses.
"Man’s faith in God is measured by his confidence in himself."
The Christ principle is the realization that you and the Father are one—your mind and the universal creative force are inseparable.
If this resonates with you, here are some steps to apply Neville’s wisdom in your life:
Define Your Desire: Be clear about what you truly want.
Enter the State of the Wish Fulfilled: Feel it real in your imagination.
Persist in the Assumption: Do not waver; the outer world will conform.
Christ is not a distant deity—it is the power within you to create, transform, and manifest.
Your imagination is the bridge between what is and what can be. Use it wisely, and you awaken to your true divine nature.
