Your Cancer New Moon Ritual
What do you have to let go of to choose yourself?
It’s a beautiful time to dream, manifest and create the life you’ve always imagined.
I know that sounds very idealistic and fantastical, but that doesn’t make it impossible.
On Friday, we have a Cancer New Moon, and this event will be an initiation of a new cycle. We’ve made it out of eclipse season, Mercury has officially gone direct, and now is the time where whatever we plant can take shape and grow.
Many of us are familiar with the fact that Cancer is emotional. I’m pretty sure I woke up crying the first day of Cancer season (I laugh because it’s true), but it is also the ruler of the Moon, so its sensitivity and intuitive nature makes it an ideal astrological cohort to cultivating care and nurture in our lives.
Cancer’s focus on bonds, families, and partnerships, paired with a sextile to Uranus, a planet of breakthroughs, creates a supportive energy for radical self-care and forward movement in your personal evolution. Live your life on your terms, and do it boldly.
This is the time to break free of any false sense of security and limitations that you continue to allow within your life, especially when it comes to your relationships. Look at what you’ve sacrificed in order to remain part of a group or familial dynamic. How have you continued to play small in order to appease those around you?
While community and a sense of belonging is a primal need, it begins to lose its root essence when the price we pay is our true identity. Know that you can find those who speak your soul’s language, but not until you find the courage to be seen for who you are underneath the masks and false personas.
Uncover, realize and claim your soul’s calling, regardless of how complicated or uncomfortable it may get, both for you and for those closest to you. Ask yourself—what do you have to let go of to choose yourself?
It’s OK if this journey brings up your own internal blocks and limitations. It’s part of the process, and crucial to identify them in order to release them. So, when you begin to feed your dreams and believe that they’re truly possible, where does your inner critic come in to deflate your excitement?
Remember that you’re the authority, so acknowledge those criticisms, thank them for attempting to keep you safe, and then have a graceful parting.
We’re on a new wave now.
Now, for those of you who’ve done these New Moon rituals, you know what to do. If you haven’t, here’s the necessary information you need to move forward.
Unlike the full moon ritual, where you set intentions on what you want to release and burn your list, new moon rituals are what you want to manifest and bring in. There will be no burning.
What you will need is a completely unused notebook (if you already have a New Moon journal, you’ll use that same one for this ritual). There cannot be any pages used or torn out. This will become your new moon journal and can only be used for new moon intentions. Once you’ve decided which new notebook you’ll dedicate to your new moon intentions, you’ll consecrate, or pray, over the journal.
Put your right hand over the journal, and say to your higher self, "I dedicate this journal to manifesting my new moon intentions." Boom. Done. You only need to do this once. Again, it’s super important that you don’t use this notebook for anything else!
Now, remember that when you write your intentions, you don’t want to use phrases like “I will,” “I want,” “I wish,” etc. as that will only manifest the longing for whatever you put down. Make definitive statements when phrasing your intentions: "I am," "I have," "I manifest," "I transform," "I create," "I make," "I attract."
The Cancer New Moon is on Friday, so you can do your ritual now, or wait. You have until Monday to complete it.
You can write whatever intentions you’d like, but here are some optional intentions you can use that align with the Cancer New Moon energy (c/o @mysticxlipstick):
I am emotionally whole.
I have a healthy, balanced, mutually fortifying and nurturing relationship with myself.
I am one with my inner child.
I nurture all aspects of myself that are contributing to balance and causing my codependency.
I am one with my Divine Feminine energy.
I embrace and make peace with all aspects of myself that opposes feminine energy.
I nurture all aspects of myself that are contributing to imbalance and unhealthy patterns from my sexual trauma.
I heal the abuse on my womb.
I nurture aspects of me that were ridiculed or shamed.
I embrace my sexuality.
I create children with the person who is in perfect alignment with the highest good of all involved.
My home life and environment is peaceful and in perfect alignment with all involved.
I have a loving, fortifying home life.
My home is protected, peaceful and safe.
I strengthen my connection with my with my higher self so that I have pinpoint precision when using my intuition.
I listen to my intuition with ease.
My intuition and psychic abilities are in perfect alignment with my highest good.
I embrace my psychic ability in a way which is safe and healthy.
I embrace my human body and experience.
I feel safe in my body.
My discernment between illusion and reality is strong.
I embrace and nurture whatever trauma is buried deep in my psyche and causing me to dissociate.
I am self-forgiving and self-compassionate.
I am nurturing childhood wounds and fear of abandonment, rejection and neglect.
I forgive my mother for being disconnected.
Once you’re done writing your intentions, seal it with the following clause: "I give thanks to the Universe for all of these intentions fully manifesting in perfect alignment with my highest good. So it is."
Now, put your notebook away until next month’s new moon, and trust that the intentions you’ve written down are already being manifested for the highest good of all involved.
