You already know the astrology of these last few months, let alone the last year or so, has been interesting, to say the least.
This week’s New Moon is no exception.
Tomorrow, June 10, marks the Gemini New Moon and Solar Eclipse. This is an especially rare cosmic event, also called “The Ring of Fire,” because in addition to the New Moon and Solar Eclipse, there’s a Mercury cazimi during Mercury Retrograde.
I’ll explain in a second.
For now, the most important thing to note is that this is a time to reform aspects concerning your communication, perspective, and beliefs.
Eclipses, as you might remember from the recent Lunar Eclipse at the end of May, help break us open to chance and illuminate whatever’s been buried and hidden. And because of Mercury Retrograde’s involvement, this specific solar eclipse is all about releasing limiting beliefs and ways of thinking.
This is a chance at a new beginning, a time to quiet the outside noise and strengthen inner knowing and intuition.
Because the last eclipse we had in Gemini was around November 30, 2020, events during that time may be highlighted again during this time. You can also see which house Gemini rules in your birth chart to gain more insight on what other themes will be brought to focus this week. To learn more about your houses, click here.
This astrological event will bring to light any patterns or themes that are constantly grasping for something without ever being satiated, or never getting enough of something. To learn more about what this might be for you, see what sign your North Node is in on your birth chart and what it represents.
This is a great time to go dark and disconnect from any form of social media or relationships that bring up unnecessary drama and energetically derailing conversations. Why engage at all?
Now to the cazimi…
A cazimi happens when a planet enters “the heart” of the Sun. A cazimi moon (which can only happen at the time of a New Moon) is good to use if you want something to really succeed. It's one of the highest forms of good luck.
Here’s the twist with this week, though—we’ll be experiencing a Gemini new moon and solar eclipse during Mercury Retrograde and a Mercury cazimi. Mercury is also the planetary ruler of Gemini. Basically, Mercury is all up in this bitch.
With the sun, moon and Mercury all aligning during this eclipse, there’s a chance you will receive very important downloads. Practice listening to yourself, to intuition, and to the wisdom that resides within. Pay attention to the messages.
Usually we set intentions on what we want to manifest during New Moon rituals, but this one is going to be a little different, because eclipses are not consistent or reliable power for manifestation rituals, so it’s recommended not to try and manifest at this time.
Instead, I’m going to forward a suggested ritual by Chani Nicholas from her app. Because Mercury cazimis are known to bring revelations, epiphanies and breakthroughs, this ritual will help you turn down the noise so you can tune into your inner knowing.
You can do this ritual anytime on Thursday or Friday and still catch the charge of the conjunction.
You’ll need a pen or pencil and notebook.
Begin by cleansing your body with a mindful bath or shower. You can add herbs associated with Mercury, like aniseed, vervain or marjoram. If you don’t have time for all that, you can just wash your hands or brush your teeth.
Clean your ritual space and set up a neutral altar. This can be any clear surface (desk, table, shelf, etc.), and if you feel called, light a candle or some incense. Take some time to meditate.
After meditating, while feeling clear and focused, reflect on any questions that you want to inquire about, by writing the question at the top of the page, and then doing a stream of consciousness free-write to answer it.
Just write whatever comes to mind without judging, questioning, criticizing, analyzing or editing what’s coming through. Keep writing until there are no words left. Again, this is a time to trust your inner knowing, and this will help create space for that wisdom to come through.
Once you’re done, read what you’ve written and see if you can draw any connections or common themes that resonate with you and with what you were asking about. It may not make sense right away, but trust that the answers you seek will reveal themselves.
As always, close the ritual by showing gratitude for the Divine consciousness that came through.
